The Polymers Center Facility Is Highlighted In Bloomberg Businessweek Interview

The Polymers Center is honored to be the backdrop of a Bloomberg Businessweek interview featuring Kevin Callahan, Chief Operating Officer of BP Polymers LLC. On September 29, Bloomberg published an article about PFAS and the containers in which they are used. The video interview was a follow-up to that article and highlighted Kortrax® BR, a compound produced by BP Polymers that is an economically viable and safe alternative to fluorinated HDPE. The video was taped at The Polymers Center and includes a guided tour of the center’s facility, as well as discussion with Yiro Shimabukuro, Manager of the Polymer Center of Excellence Lab, and Tom McHouell, President at the Polymer Technology Center.

The Polymers Technology Center is where BP Polymers produces Kortrax® Barrer Resin for their Baritainers® containers. Raw components come into the center and Tom McHouell’s production team manufactures the compound. Yiro Shimabukuro in the testing lab performs quality and developmental work for BP Polymers. Kevin, from BP Polymers stated, “Yiro’s lab facility is impressive and his team very

knowledgeable regarding polymer chemistry. Yiro has been instrumental in helping Chris and I in continually improving Kortrax.”

The Polymers Center is proud to appear in Bloomberg and we are happy to be working with BP Polymers and their innovative alternative to fluorinated containers. At the Polymers Center, we are proud of our facility and capabilities. Nowhere else in the country will you find an organization like ours.
